Re: [famous_quotes] Digest Number 1305
For Sujatha - quotes on condolence / death:
"I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death.
They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make.
Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in
knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love." -Leo
Buscaglia
"Grief is the most patient and persistent of all of life's companions. It is
an ancient, universal power that links all human beings together." -Molly
Fumia, Safe Passage
"The most difficult thing of all-yet the most essential-is to love life,
even when you suffer, because life is all." -Leo Tolstoy
"Sorrows come to stretch out spaces in the heart---for joy." -Edwin Markham
"The world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of
it." -Helen Keller
"Those who grieve find comfort in weeping and in arousing their sorrow until
the body is too tired to bear the inner emotions." -Maimonides
"To find a safe journey through grief to growth does not mean one should
forget the past. It means that on the journey we will need safe pathways so
that remembrance, which may be painful, is possible." -Donna O'Toole
"Grief has a quality of healing in it that is very deep because we are
forced to a depth of emotion that is usually below the threshold of our
awareness." -Steven Levine
Quotes for the friend who just bought a house:
'Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.
A charm from the skies seems to hallow us there,
Which sought through the world is ne'er met with elsewhere.
An exile from home splendor dazzles in vain,
Oh give me my lowly thatched cottage again;
The birds singing gaily, that came at my call,
Give me them, and that peace of mind dearer than all.
- J. Howard Payne (1792-1852)
And to Heidi - thank you for sharing your story and love of quotes! I worked
with a deaf gentlemen who listened to music in the manner you described. He
was also a softball coach for deaf children and loved to tell us stories
from the games! He taught us so much about life and like you, did not view
himself as a handicapped person. And many people in that company came to see
that they had been living a 'handicapped' life that had nothing to do with
physical ailments! So keep spreading your positive attitude and sharing your
story! It is inspirational and might just wake someone up to all the glories
of life!
